- On the free tools, image and PDF processing happens client-side in the browser (Canvas + pdf-lib) and selected files never leave the device, so there is no server-side storage or retention of their documents; optional Pro processing sends only the pages a user selects, after a cloud-processing notice. - PDF compression rasterizes PDF pages and works toward a target size (200 KB, 500 KB, custom) on a best-effort basis; extreme targets may remain larger. Compressed pages do not keep selectable text.
- The scanner and its PDF tools have no OCR: they do not convert scans into searchable or editable text. Text recognition lives on two separate pages: Image to Markdown (printed text in 21 languages, up to two packs per run plus English where the script needs it, an open-source engine running on the device, released 2026-09 as an experiment) and PDF to Markdown (native text extraction with an on-device OCR fallback for scanned pages).
- The passport photo tool crops to standard sizes by hand; it has no face detection and does not guarantee acceptance by any authority.
