Homeschooling and registration: in South Africa, a child who learns at home through an online school needs home education registration with the provincial education department from Grade R until the end of the year the child turns 15 or finishes Grade 9, whichever comes first. Parents apply themselves, and CambriLearn does not submit applications. From Grade 10 no registration is needed. The South African Schools Act does not yet make explicit provision for online-only schools, and the Department of Basic Education has said it is preparing amendments. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland the law treats a child who learns full time with an online school as home educated, and in Scotland parents need the council's consent before taking a child out of a state school. In Australia, families register as home educators with their state or territory, and CambriLearn supplies the subject list, timetable and assessment schedule for the learning plan.

How the school runs: families choose a package per subject. Standard includes live, timetabled lessons with a specialist teacher, recordings of those lessons and teacher-marked assessments. Premium adds direct teacher chat, weekly live question and answer sessions and mock examinations. Some pathways, CAPS among them, also offer Starter, the parent-led homeschool option: the student works through CambriLearn's online content, assessments and memorandums at home, without live lessons or teacher marking. Teachers hold recognised teaching degrees (BSc, BEd, PGCE, BA or MA), are SACE registered and average more than eight years of classroom experience.
