# CambriLearn: Accredited Online Private School and Homeschooling for Ages 4 to 19 > CambriLearn is an accredited online private school for students aged 4 to 19, run from Johannesburg and teaching families in more than 100 countries. Families use CambriLearn as an online homeschool: on the Standard and Premium packages, qualified subject specialists teach live, timetabled lessons and mark the assessments, while parents keep the routine at home. The school teaches five curricula across six pathways: CAPS, KABV (the CAPS curriculum in Afrikaans), IEB, the International British Curriculum, Pearson Edexcel, and the US K-12 curriculum through sister school Score Academy Online. CambriLearn is Cognia accredited, an approved Pearson Edexcel examination centre, registered with SACAI and the IEB, and NCAA approved. Founded in 2008 as TopDog and relaunched as CambriLearn in 2016, the school has taught more than 80,000 students, reports a 98% university acceptance rate, and holds a 4.8 out of 5 average across 386 reviews on Google, HelloPeter, Trustpilot and Facebook (last checked 10 September 2026). Homeschooling and registration: in South Africa, a child who learns at home through an online school needs home education registration with the provincial education department from Grade R until the end of the year the child turns 15 or finishes Grade 9, whichever comes first. Parents apply themselves, and CambriLearn does not submit applications. From Grade 10 no registration is needed. The South African Schools Act does not yet make explicit provision for online-only schools, and the Department of Basic Education has said it is preparing amendments. In England, Wales and Northern Ireland the law treats a child who learns full time with an online school as home educated, and in Scotland parents need the council's consent before taking a child out of a state school. In Australia, families register as home educators with their state or territory, and CambriLearn supplies the subject list, timetable and assessment schedule for the learning plan. How the school runs: families choose a package per subject. Standard includes live, timetabled lessons with a specialist teacher, recordings of those lessons and teacher-marked assessments. Premium adds direct teacher chat, weekly live question and answer sessions and mock examinations. Some pathways, CAPS among them, also offer Starter, the parent-led homeschool option: the student works through CambriLearn's online content, assessments and memorandums at home, without live lessons or teacher marking. Teachers hold recognised teaching degrees (BSc, BEd, PGCE, BA or MA), are SACE registered and average more than eight years of classroom experience. Fees are charged per subject per year, shown in ZAR, USD, GBP, AED, EUR or AUD, with CAPS, KABV and IEB priced in rand and the other pathways in US dollars. A once-off registration fee applies, textbooks and external examination fees are not included, and subscriptions run for 12 months from activation. Students can enrol in any month, although CAPS, KABV and IEB Grades 10 to 12 follow fixed South African term dates and examination-body deadlines. Examinations: CAPS and KABV students write the National Senior Certificate through SACAI, the IEB pathway leads to the NSC examined by the IEB, and students on the International British Curriculum and Pearson Edexcel pathways sit International GCSE, AS Level and A Level examinations as private candidates at registered examination centres near them, receiving certificates from Cambridge Assessment International Education or Pearson Edexcel. CambriLearn is not a registered Cambridge school and is not affiliated with Cambridge Assessment International Education. US K-12 assessments are written online and the American High School Diploma is issued under Cognia accreditation.
