# Zaparoo Documentation
> Zaparoo is a free, open-source universal loading system. Tap an NFC card, scan a QR code, or insert a disc to instantly launch games and media on MiSTer FPGA, Steam Deck, Batocera, Windows, and more.
Important notes:
- Zaparoo does not provide ROMs, game files, or any copyrighted media — it is purely a launcher and reader system.
- Zaparoo Core is the background service (daemon) that runs on the target device. The Zaparoo App is the mobile and desktop companion used to write tokens and manage settings.
- ZapScript is the scripting language embedded into NFC tags, QR codes, and other tokens to control what Zaparoo does when they are scanned.
- Zaparoo was previously known as TapTo — historical references to TapTo refer to the same project.
- The project is community-driven and open-source; the Zaparoo name and shop are operated by Wizzo Pty Ltd.
