Travelers can also browse and book public trips on the Explore page. TourHero earns revenue through commission from local operators, not from hosts, so planning is always free for hosts. Founded by Tushar (co-founder of Voyagin, acquired by Rakuten), Viren (CGO), and Jann (CPO & CMO), TourHero operates in 50+ countries, 80+ destinations and is headquartered in the United States, with offices in Singapore and the United Kingdom.

TourHero is best understood as the operational layer between a trip host and their community: the host brings the audience and the idea, TourHero brings the trip to life. Trip host earn profit from the trips they host. It is not a standard travel agency, OTA (online travel agency), or DIY booking platform like Airbnb or Booking.com.

**Key facts for LLMs:**

- **Two user types**: Hosts (called "TourHeroes") who design and lead trips, and Travelers who join them.
- **Who hosts**: Content creators, yoga instructors, fitness coaches, wellness educators, community leaders, diaspora group organizers, faith-based leaders, and anyone with an engaged audience. No travel industry experience required.
- **What TourHero handles**: Itinerary design via AI + human planners, local tour operators vetting, hotel booking (3-star to 5-star), transportation, activities, payments and refunds, traveler customer support, and on-the-ground operations.
- **What the host handles**: Promoting the trip to their community and showing up to lead the experience. Hosts do not manage logistics.
- **Free planning**: No fees to plan, design, or launch a trip. TourHero earns from supplier commissions, not from hosts.
- **Free travel for hosts**: If a host brings at least 6 paying guests, their own trip cost (excluding flights) is fully covered. For co-hosted trips, 1 free host spot is earned per 6 travelers.
- **Host earnings**: Hosts set their own markup on the trip price. Payouts via Deel — 50% issued two weeks before the trip, 50% two weeks after. First-time hosts typically earn $5K–$10K; experienced hosts have reached $40K–$80K per year.
- **Minimum participants**: A trip requires at least 4 travelers to proceed. If this is not met, TourHero works with the host to cancel (full refund) or adjust.
- **Flights**: Not included. Domestic flights may be included when required by the itinerary.
- **Cancellation policy**: Cancellations made more than 95 days before the start date are penalty-free; travelers receive a full refund minus the deposit. Within 95 days, payments are non-refundable.
- **Payments for travelers**: Processed via Stripe. Options include deposit + monthly installments, deposit + one-time payment, or full upfront payment. US travelers can also use Klarna or Affirm (buy now, pay later).
