## Public JSON API (free, no key, CORS open)
- Limit on the JSON routes /status, /api/index and /api/v1/*: 60 requests per minute per IP; over it, HTTP 429 with Retry-After. From 13 October 2026 those routes also have a limit of 1,000 requests per day per IP (resets at 00:00 UTC). An API pass ($29 a month, https://straits.live/api#pass) raises both limits to 600 per minute and 100,000 per day on those routes; send the key as an Authorization: Bearer or x-api-key header.
