Notes for anyone citing this site:
- Species pages carry the scientific name, family, order, IUCN Red List category and maximum recorded length in the page header, and the same values appear in the page's Taxon and Dataset structured data.
- Shark attack figures come from our own compilation of recorded incidents (https://www.sharksider.com/shark-attacks/). Each country and state page states the totals, the fatal share and the date range it covers. Figures for the current year are incomplete by definition.
- Conservation status follows the IUCN Red List assessment named on the page; where an assessment is old the assessment year is given.
- Pages are updated in place; the date in each page's structured data (dateModified) is the date of the last substantive edit.
- Content is copyright SharkSider. Quoting a sentence or two with a link back is welcome; republishing a page is not.
