> Plakar is an open-source backup tool that provides end-to-end encrypted,
> deduplicated backups. It is powered by Kloset, an immutable data store engine
> that handles chunking, deduplication, compression, and encryption, and
> represents all backed-up data internally as a virtual filesystem. Plakar's
> integration model allows any data source, storage backend, or restore
> destination to be supported through pluggable connectors, making it adaptable
> to files, databases, object storage, SaaS, and more. It is designed for a

## Install
Plakar is a command-line tool, `plakar`. Integrations such as S3 or SFTP are separate packages that you install with `plakar pkg add` (see [Managing Packages](https://www.plakar.io/docs/community/v1.1.0/guides/managing-packages/index.md)). Pick one install method, then run `plakar version` to check it. Full instructions with copy-paste commands: [Installation](https://www.plakar.io/docs/community/v1.1.0/quickstart/installation/index.md).
- Homebrew: `brew install plakarkorp/tap/plakar` (Plakar tap, recommended by the docs) or `brew install plakar` (Homebrew core, which may not always have the latest release).
- Debian and Ubuntu (apt): add the signing key from https://plakar.io/dist/keys/plakar-packages.gpg and the repository `deb [signed-by=/usr/share/keyrings/plakar.gpg] https://plakar.io/dist/repos/deb/ stable main`, then run `sudo apt-get install plakar`.
- Fedora and other RPM systems (dnf): add the repository `https://plakar.io/dist/repos/rpm/$basearch/` with the same signing key, then run `sudo dnf install plakar`.
- Go toolchain: `go install github.com/PlakarKorp/plakar@latest`.
- Arch Linux: `yay -S plakar` (AUR).
- Pre-built binaries and packages for macOS, Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD and Windows, with SHA256 checksums: [Download page](https://www.plakar.io/download/) (HTML only, no Markdown version) or [GitHub releas
