Nuclear is a plugin-driven desktop music player. Plugins supply metadata, streaming, and other functionalities. Nuclear has no ads, no trackers, no telemetry, no premium tier, and no in-app purchases. The project started in 2016 and is developed on GitHub.
Features:
- Search and browse artists, albums, and tracks across multiple sources. Plugins can add more sources.
- Build playlists from any source, or import them from other services and JSON files. Save favorite artists, albums, and tracks.
- Extend Nuclear with the plugin API. Install plugins from the built-in plugin store. Plugins update automatically.
- Pick a built-in theme, or write a custom JSON theme with wallpapers, gradients, and fonts. Install community themes from the theme store.
- See which stream Nuclear found for a track and switch to a different one. Stream verification lets users correct streams for everyone.
- Keep a local listening history and see listening stats.
- Control playback from any phone or tablet on the same network with Nuclear Jam, by scanning a QR code.
- Let AI agents control playback, search for music, and manage the queue and playlists through the built-in MCP server.
- Control Nuclear through the HTTP API, or from MPD clients such as ncmpcpp and mpc.
- Show the current track on Discord with Rich Presence.
- Read the app logs in the built-in log viewer.
Installation:
- Windows: download the .exe installer or the .msi package, or run `winget install nukeop.nuclear`.
