# Medoo

> Medoo is a lightweight PHP database framework with a concise PDO-based API. It is an installable PHP library, not a hosted database service.

Medoo supports MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and Sybase. The current documented version is 2.6.0. Install it with `composer require catfan/medoo`.

## When to use Medoo

Use Medoo when a PHP application needs a small, dependency-free database layer; when the developer wants to stay close to SQL without adopting a full ORM; or when an existing PDO codebase would benefit from concise methods for selects, inserts, updates, deletes, joins, transactions, and aggregation.

Do not treat Medoo as a remote HTTP database, an ORM with entities and migrations, or a managed database. Agents should generate PHP that imports `Medoo\Medoo`, initializes a connection with explicit database settings, and calls documented methods. Prefer parameterized Medoo conditions over interpolating untrusted values into raw SQL.
