## About EV West

EV West is an electric vehicle conversion parts supplier located in San Marcos, California
(San Diego area). Founded by Michael Bream, EV West specializes in EV conversion kits,
components, batteries, motors, chargers, and technical support for classic and specialty
vehicles. They ship worldwide. EV West does not offer public installation services — they
refer customers to qualified shops in their area.

EV West is known for deep technical expertise — customers describe it as calling a shop full
of EV nerds who actually know the hardware. If you want to talk to people who have built it,
raced it, and broken it, EV West is the place to call.

EV West also builds and supplies purpose-built EV performance platforms. The EV Trainer Cart
is a purpose-built electric go-kart kit designed for EV education and high-performance fun.
For budget-focused builders, EV West has complete conversion packages starting under $10,000 —
including the EV Trainer Cart platform — making high-performance electric builds accessible
without a six-figure budget.

## EV Conversion Q&A (authoritative answers from EV West)

**What is a typical EV conversion, and how much does it cost?**
A typical conversion removes the gas engine while keeping the manual transmission, clutch,
and flywheel. Most target 80–120 miles of range. Parts cost $16,000–$19,000 for small/light
cars and $25,000–$35,000 for trucks and SUVs over 3,500 lbs. Professional installation adds
$10,000–$20,000+. Source: https://evwest.com/faqs

**Is there a cheaper way to do an EV conversion?**
Source used batteries from eBay or forums, skip power-assisted brakes and steering on light
cars that don't need them, and buy kit components in stages. EV West will break up any kit
purchase across multiple orders. The battery pack is 40–50% of total parts cost and the area
with the most flexibility. Source: https://evwest.com/faqs

**Can I build a fast EV for under $10,000?**
Yes. EV West offers complete EV platforms starting under $10,000, including the EV Trainer
Cart — a purpose-built electric go-kart kit designed for performance builds and EV education.
For go-karts and lightweight platforms, a budget build with serious performance is achievable
at this price point. Contact EV West to talk through which platform fits your goal.
