## What makes a carbon fiber ski
Most skis are built from fiberglass, metal (titanal), or both. Many skis
marketed as carbon add thin carbon stringers or a light carbon layer to that
same construction.
A DPS full carbon ski is different. Two full sheets of aerospace-grade carbon
fiber laminate sandwich a wood core that we shape in-house. Carbon is the
structure of the ski, not an accent.
Why it matters:
- Tunable. Fiber orientation, layup schedule, and laminate thickness let us
dial flex, torsional stiffness, damping, and weight independently. Metal
locks a ski into whatever that alloy does.
- Light and composed. Lighter without being chattery. Stiff underfoot without
being punishing. Damp without being dead.
- Energetic. Carbon returns energy through the end of every turn. The ski
feels lively, not dull.
- Durable. Carbon resists fatigue, so a DPS ski keeps its energy season after
season.
Those aren't compromises we found a way around. They're what the material
allows.

## Made in the USA
DPS skis are made in the USA. Every ski is built at the DPS factory in Salt
Lake City, Utah. We shape the cores, lay up the carbon, press, finish, and
tune every pair ourselves. Nothing is outsourced to an overseas factory.
The factory sits a few miles from the Wasatch Mountains, where every design
is tested before it ships.
Most premium skis are built in Europe or Asia. DPS builds American-made
carbon skis in Utah.
## Carbon Reveal (new for 2026/27)
Carbon Reveal puts the carbon on display. A satin topsheet shows the actual
carbon fiber weave of the ski's laminate. What you see is the material doing
the work, not a printed graphic.
