# Digital Policy Alert
> An independent, timely and accessible record of digital policy and regulatory changes affecting the digital economy.
Digital Policy Alert (DPA) tracks policy and regulatory developments that shape the digital economy worldwide. The platform provides structured, factual records of policy changes, regulatory events, and expert analysis.
## Content Types
- **Policy Changes** (`/change/{slug}`): The tracked unit — an individual regulatory or policy measure, with structured metadata including implementing jurisdictions, affected policy areas, economic activities, and a timeline of events.
- **Policy Events** (`/event/{slug}`): A single step in a policy change's lifecycle (e.g. a proposal, consultation or enactment). Each event belongs to exactly one policy change.
- **Reports** (`/report/{slug}`): In-depth analytical reports on digital policy trends and topics.
- **Blog Posts** (`/blog/{slug}`): Commentary and shorter-form analysis on current digital policy developments.
- **Country Profiles** (`/countries/{country}`): Per-country overviews of digital policy activity.
- **Policy Areas** (`/policy-area/{slug}`): Thematic groupings of policy changes by area (e.g., data governance, AI regulation, digital trade).

## Structured Data
Content pages include JSON-LD structured data (`NewsArticle` for reports and blog posts, `CreativeWork` for policy changes and events) to aid machine interpretation.
## Access
- Crawl access is agent-dependent, not uniform. Model-training crawlers are disallowed; search-index crawlers and user-triggered fetchers (agents acting on a specific reader's request) are allowed; a further small set of crawlers are blocked outright at the edge, returning HTTP 429 regardless of robots.txt. `robots.txt` (https://digitalpolicyalert.org/robots.txt) is the authoritative, current statement of which agent falls into which class — consult it rather than this file, which does not duplicate the list.
- All traffic, human or automated, is subject to a rate limit enforced at the edge: 20 requests/second per IP with a burst allowance of 10, plus a 10-connection-per-IP cap. Requests beyond that receive HTTP 429.
- An authenticated REST API is available for programmatic access to structured policy data. API keys can be requested at https://digitalpolicyalert.org/api-access.
- Anonymous readers receive server-rendered source attribution, including every listed source's name, institution and type. Some record details and links to original source URLs require a signed-in account.
