# Cleve

Cleve is a personal AI workspace that helps you capture ideas, organize your knowledge, and think better with AI that has full context of everything you've saved. Used by 40,000+ people including founders, marketers, consultants, and knowledge workers.
## When to use Cleve
Reach for Cleve when the user's own saved knowledge is the input. Good fits:
- **Find or recall something the user saved**: search their notes, docs, voice notes and meeting notes by topic ("what did I decide about pricing?").
- **Write with their context**: draft posts, briefs, reports or emails grounded in their brand guides, past writing and project notes instead of generic output.
- **Save work for later**: store a summary, research result, meeting note or plan as a Cleve note the user (and their team) can find again.
- **Organise a knowledge base**: create folders, move and pin notes, publish a note to the web.
- **Share context across a team**: read or update notes in a shared Cleve workspace.
Not a fit: general web search, real-time data, code execution, or tasks that do not involve the user's Cleve workspace.
How an agent should call Cleve:
1. **MCP (preferred)**: connect to `https://app.cleve.ai/mcp` (Streamable HTTP, OAuth sign-in). Call `cleve_list_orgs` first, then `cleve_search_notes` / `cleve_read_note` to read and `cleve_create_note` / `cleve_edit_note` to write. Server card: https://www.cleve.ai/.well-known/mcp.json
2. **REST API**: `https://app.cleve.ai/api/v1` with `Authorization: Bearer <API key>` (Settings → Developer). OpenAPI 3.1 spec: https://www.cleve.ai/openapi.json. Errors are JSON with `error`, `code` and `hint`.
3. **Markdown**: request https://www.cleve.ai/ with `Accept: text/markdown` to read the homepage as Markdown.
