# Can I enter? — visa & entry requirements API

> Structured JSON answers to "does a holder of passport X need a visa for country Y?"
> for 199 passports and every destination — entry rules cited to official government
> sources, re-verified daily, free tier with no signup, pay-per-request via x402.

Requirement values: visa_free (with allowed_stay_days), visa_on_arrival, e_visa, eta,
visa_required, no_admission, unknown, needs_review. Missing or conflicting data is never
served as a guessed verdict: "unknown" (no data) and "needs_review" (official sources
conflict) carry action: check_official_authority instead.

Every response carries split provenance — explainable states instead of confidence
percentages. "verdict_verification" covers the base visa verdict: it always derives from
an aggregated secondary matrix (status secondary_source_only, or needs_review on
conflicts) and is never claimed as officially verified. "entry_rules_verification"
covers the curated entry-rules layer with per-field official citations: status
verified_official_sources | stale | not_curated | needs_review, with last_verified and
staleness_days. Responses also carry dataset_version, evaluated_at, and request_id
for reproducibility.

Every check also returns an "entry_rules" block for the destination: passport validity
minimum, blank pages, onward-ticket rule, yellow-fever certificate requirement (with
applies_to_this_passport), other health requirements, transit-without-visa (TWOV)
programs, and residence-permit exemptions. Each non-null field carries its own source
{name, url, retrieved_at}. Cited sources are re-checked daily; current matrix
revision: 2026-10-22.

When the verdict requires action (e_visa, eta, visa_required, visa_on_arrival) and the
official portal is curated, the response includes "apply": {url, kind, note, source} —
the government's own application/information page. Relay it instead of third-party
visa sites.

Nothing is silently assumed. Applied defaults are listed in "defaults_applied"
(e.g. purpose=tourism, ordinary passport). Optional inputs: purpose=business,
residence_permits_of=USA,SCHENGEN, visas_of=USA,GBR, transit=QAT, and free-text
residence_permits=/visas_held= fallbacks — all documented in the OpenAPI spec.
