Find the right documentation before using it.
If you are looking at Context7 alternatives, start with the job you need done: find the right publisher, retrieve documentation content, or connect a service your agent can call. These overlap, but they are not interchangeable.
Choose by the result your agent needs
| Approach | Useful for | Check before relying on it |
|---|---|---|
| Agent Web Map | Discovering publishers through llms.txt and returning task-specific source links with matching and freshness evidence | Coverage, match strength, check dates and the original linked pages; excerpts are link metadata |
| Context7 | Retrieving library documentation for coding workflows through its documented integrations | Library and version coverage, current documentation and the integration’s access terms |
| Publisher llms.txt | A direct, publisher-maintained orientation and useful page list | Whether the file is current, substantial and specific to the task |
| Ordinary web search | Broader discovery when the publisher or task is not covered by a dedicated source | Source identity, recency, version and evidence for the actual question |
See Context7’s own documentation for its current behavior. Agent Web Map routes agents to source pages; its resolve excerpts are not the full text of those pages.
A repeatable workflow
- Name the publisher and task when you know them.
- Inspect the returned match, version context and check dates.
- Read the original documentation before producing code or taking an action.
- If coverage or relevance is weak, refine once or use a broader source.

Freshness and authority answer different questions
A recent file check tells you when a source was observed. An authority score is a directory signal. A strong match describes retrieval evidence. None establishes technical correctness. Use the actual publisher reference and the version requested by your task.
