# TETRA Hearing > TETRA Hearing makes electronic hearing devices built specifically for hunters and shooters. Each device protects against gunshot noise while enhancing the sounds that matter in the field (calls, game, voices, dogs) using TETRA's patent-pending Specialized Target Optimization (STO), which tunes the device to a specific hunting pursuit. Example: the Waterfowl program clarifies calling, wing whistles and voices in the blind; the Turkey program emphasizes gobbles and yelps for detection, distance and direction; the Upland program enhances flushes, e-collar tones and dog bells. Loud impulse noise (gunshots, loud calling) is compressed to safe levels. - Two fits: - AlphaShield 2: small, one-size-fits-all, no ear impression needed. Ships in about 1–2 business days. Can be custom-programmed to the wearer's audiogram; adds advanced wind-noise reduction and ClearComm voice clarity. - Single pursuit vs. multi-pursuit: single-pursuit devices carry one STO program. Multi-Pursuit and Flex-Pursuit devices hold multiple programs (up to six) and switch with one button press. - Protection: published NRR is roughly 20–21 dB for AlphaShield (tip-dependent) and roughly 22–25 dB for CustomShield. - Water: devices are water-resistant (sweat, light rain), not waterproof. - Buying: HSA/FSA eligible as a qualified medical expense.
