Any signed-in account can create a key at https://speaknotes.io/settings/api-keys; no paid plan is required. OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration is supported for apps acting on behalf of other users. There is no anonymous access to account data, though `GET /v1`, `GET /v1/health`, and the MCP `initialize` and `tools/list` methods work without a credential. **Sandbox**: keys beginning `sn_test_` return fixed output, spend no credits, and write to a separate sandbox library. Live keys begin `sn_live_`. **Credits**: one credit is one started minute of media. Free accounts get 60 credits a month, Pro accounts 2,000, and extra credits are prepaid. Reads are free. **Errors**: every failure returns `{"error": {"type", "code", "message", "doc_url"}}` as JSON, never HTML. ## Features - Audio & video transcription (50+ languages, 95%+ accuracy) - AI summarization in multiple formats (key points, action items, study notes) - YouTube video transcription and summarization - PDF summarization - Voice memo transcription (iPhone, Android, all formats) - In-browser recording - Folder organization and sharing - Export to Notion, Obsidian, PDF, Word - Team collaboration features ## Free Tools ### AI Summarizer - [AI Summarizer](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/ai-summarizer): Summarize any audio, video, or document with AI ### Transcription Tools - [Transcribe Audio to Text](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/transcribe-audio-to-text): Convert any audio file to text - [Voice Memo Transcription](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/voice-memo-transcription): Transcribe voice memos from iPhone, Android, or any device - [YouTube Transcript Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/youtube-transcript-generator): Get transcripts from YouTube videos - [Audio Transcription](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/transcribe): Transcribe audio files to text - [MP3 Transcription](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/transcribe/mp3): Transcribe MP3 files - [MP4 Transcription](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/transcribe/mp4): Transcribe MP4 videos - [WAV Transcription](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/transcribe/wav): Transcribe WAV files ### Summarizers - [YouTube Video Summarizer](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/youtube-summary-generator): Summarize YouTube videos - [Meeting Summary Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/meeting-summary-generator): Summarize meeting recordings - [Lecture Summary Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/lecture-summary-generator): Create study notes from lectures - [Podcast Summary Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/podcast-summary-generator): Summarize podcast episodes - [Interview Summary Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/interview-summary-generator): Extract key points from interviews - [Book Summary Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/book-summary-generator): Summarize book content - [Article Summary Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/article-summary-generator): Condense articles - [PDF Summary Generator](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/pdf-summary-generator): Summarize PDF documents ### Idea Generators - [Blog Ideas](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/blog-ideas-generator): Generate blog post ideas - [Podcast Ideas](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/podcast-ideas-generator): Generate episode ideas - [YouTube Ideas](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/youtube-ideas-generator): Generate video ideas - [Newsletter Ideas](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/newsletter-ideas-generator): Generate newsletter ideas - [Content Marketing Ideas](https://speaknotes.io/free-tools/content-marketing-ideas-generator): Generate marketing ideas ## Use Cases SpeakNotes is used for: - **Meeting transcription & summaries**: Automatically transcribe and summarize meeting recordings with action items - **Lecture notes**: Convert lecture recordings into structured study notes - **Voice memo transcription**: Turn voice memos into searchable, editable text - **Podcast summarization**: Get key takeaways from podcast episodes - **YouTube video analysis**: Transcribe and summarize YouTube videos - **Interview transcription**: Convert interview recordings to text for research - **Content creation**: Turn audio/video content into written articles and blog posts ## Pricing - **Free tier**: Upload files up to 5MB, basic transcription and summarization - **Pro**: Unlimited files up to 500MB, advanced AI features, all export formats, priority processing ## Supported Formats - **Audio**: MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC, OGG, OPUS, FLAC - **Video**: MP4, AVI, MOV, WMV, FLV, MKV - **Documents**: PDF - **URLs**: YouTube videos ## Blog - [What's the best AI app for transcribing lectures and meetings into notes?](/blog/best-ai-app-for-transcribing-lectures-and-meetings): Honest shortlist.
