# Overit.sk > Slovak company directory. Search the Slovak business registers by company > name, IČO (company ID) or VAT number and get registration data, statutory > representatives, VAT status and filed financial statements. Available in Slovak, English, Czech, Hungarian, Polish, German and Ukrainian. ## Status Search, the VAT check and published company profiles are live and use real public-register data. Accounts use revocable database-backed sessions. The signed-in dashboard provides real company and people data, monitoring, deadlines, team management, API keys and administrator operations. There is no billing or paid plan yet; the pricing page describes planned tiers. ## What users can do - Search Slovak companies by name or IČO and browse matching legal entities. - Open a published company profile with registration data and financial history — revenue, profit, assets, equity and liabilities — for every accounting period the company has filed. - Look up any company by IČO for a live view of registry data, statutory representatives, VAT status and the list of statements it has filed. - Check whether a company is a registered VAT payer, by IČO, by VAT number or by company name. The keyed API (profiles, people, statements, change radar; API plan) is described separately at https://overit.sk/llms-api.txt. Responses are edge-cached. Every response is an object with a boolean `ok` field; on failure `ok` is false and `error` carries a short machine-readable code such as `not_found`, `invalid_ico`, `query_too_short` or `upstream_unavailable`. - `GET https://overit.sk/api/search?q={name-or-ico}` Company search. `q` must be 2-120 characters. A 6-8 digit numeric `q` is treated as an IČO, anything else as a name. Returns up to 25 results as `results[]` with fields: rpoId, name, ico, address, legalForm, established, terminated, active. A name search requires a signed-in overit.sk session (a free account); without one it answers 429 with `error.code` `signup_required`. An IČO needs no account: it is a lookup with one public answer (and https://overit.sk/firma/{ico}/ opens that company's profile directly). Company profile pages stay open. For programmatic use, use the Overit API with a key (API plan, https://overit.sk/cennik/; see https://overit.sk/llms-api.txt). - `GET https://overit.sk/api/company/{ico}` Live company lookup. `ico` must be 8 digits. Returns `company` (ico, name, address, legalForm, established, terminated, active, dic, skNace, sizeCategory, people[] of {name, role}), `vat` ({checked, valid, vatNumber}), `statements[]` ({id, periodFrom, periodTo, type, filed}) and `sources` indicating which upstream registers answered. Cached 6 hours. - `GET https://overit.sk/api/vat/{vat-number}` Standalone VAT validation against VIES. Accepts 10 digits with an optional `SK` prefix, e.g. /api/vat/SK2020123456. Returns `vat` ({checked, valid, vatNumber}). Cached 6 hours. - `GET https://overit.sk/api/companies` The published profiles, as a summary list: ico, slug, name, city, latest period and the headline figures shown in the directory. - `GET https://overit.sk/api/companies/{ico-or-slug}` One published profile in full, including its financial history and, for every figure, which statement and which template row it came from. The endpoints under /api/auth/ serve the site's own sign-in forms, and writes to /api/companies require an administrator session. They are not for third-party use. Note: robots.txt disallows crawling of /api/ to keep automated crawlers off the upstream registers. The endpoints remain publicly callable for direct, purposeful requests. ## Data sources - Register právnických osôb (RPO), Štatistický úrad SR — legal entity registry data: name, IČO, address, legal form, dates, statutory representatives. - Register účtovných závierok (registeruz.sk) — DIČ, SK NACE, organisation size, filed financial statements and the figures inside them. - VIES (European Commission) — validation of EU VAT numbers. Search, the VAT check and the live lookups are proxied straight to those registers and nothing is stored. Published profiles are different: their financial history is extracted from filed statements and stored, so it can be shown year by year and ranked. Every stored figure records the statement and the template row it came from, and figures we compute from those (margins, year-on-year change) are labelled as calculated. Nothing is estimated or filled in: a figure a statement does not report is absent rather than guessed. Overit.sk is not the authoritative source; the registers above are. Values can be null when an upstream register has no record. ## Terminology - IČO — 8-digit Slovak company identification number. The primary key for a legal entity. Often written with spaces, e.g. "35 815 256". - DIČ — 10-digit Slovak tax identification number. Assigned to every tax subject. Not the same as a VAT number. - IČ DPH — Slovak VAT identification number, formatted as `SK` followed by 10 digits. Only companies registered for VAT have one. A company can have a DIČ without having an IČ DPH. - ORSR — Obchodný register SR, the Slovak commercial register. - RPO — Register právnických osôb, the register of legal entities. - RÚZ — Register účtovných závierok, the register of financial statements. - Účtovná závierka — annual financial statement filed with the state. - s.r.o. — spoločnosť s ručením obmedzeným, Slovak limited liability company. - a.s. — akciová spoločnosť, Slovak joint-stock company. - Platiteľ DPH — a VAT-registered entity. - Štatutárny zástupca — statutory representative, i.e. a person authorised to act for the company. ## Authentication Every page and endpoint listed under "Public pages" and "Public API" above is open — no account, no session, no API key — except searching by name (`/api/search` with a name, and the search page's results), which needs a free account. An IČO lookup is open. /app and everything beneath it requires a Fastify-validated session. Admin permissions are read from PostgreSQL on every authorized request; they are not stored permanently in the cookie. Signing up is free; besides search it gates nothing listed under public pages or public APIs. ## /app — authenticated dashboard The dashboard uses real backend data for company search and profiles, people, company watchlists and monitoring events, deadlines, team membership and invitations, API-key management, and administrator operations. API keys are tenant-scoped and are shown in full only once when created. All of /app is noindex and disallowed in robots.txt. Documents, invoices, bank-account verification, reports, billing and workspace preferences do not yet have complete persistence or external integrations. Those areas are explicitly marked as pending and do not display fictional companies, documents, accounts, limits or risk scores. ## Not available To avoid incorrect assumptions: there is currently no MCP server, webhook delivery, bulk export, document verification, bank-account verification, billing or paid plan.
