## About

Namebeta is a comprehensive domain name platform that helps users search for available domains, compare prices across registrars, and access domain-related tools like WHOIS lookup, DNS queries, and IP geolocation.

## API Integration (MCP)

Namebeta provides a Model Context Protocol (MCP) endpoint for LLM integration:

- Endpoint: POST /api/mcp
- Protocol: JSON-RPC 2.0
- Authentication: OAuth 2.1 (authorize with your NameBeta account; discovery via /.well-known/oauth-protected-resource/api/mcp)
- Client registration: Client ID Metadata Documents (your client_id is the HTTPS URL of your metadata document). Dynamic Client Registration is not offered; for a pre-registered client_id, write to contact@namebeta.com.
- Scopes: profile email (identity only). No API scope exists; a token issued for the resource https://namebeta.com/api/mcp is valid for every tool.

### Available Tools

- **check_availability**: Check 1–20 domains; bare labels expand across the default TLD set, returning status and search URL for each domain.
- **compare_prices**: Compare registrar registration and renewal prices for a domain, with optional currency (default USD) and registration URLs.
- **suggest_domains**: Generate domain name variations and domain hacks from a text query.
- **lookup_whois**: Retrieve a domain's registration status, registrar, expiration date, nameservers, and raw WHOIS data when available.
- **lookup_dns**: Retrieve DNS records for a domain; record type A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, NS, SRV or SOA (default A).
