## About MyoTape

MyoTape was designed by Patrick McKeown — educated at Trinity College Dublin, clinically trained in Russia, and personally accredited by the late Professor Konstantin Buteyko in 2002. Patrick is a TEDx speaker, Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology, and author of eleven books on breathing science including *The Oxygen Advantage* and *The Breathing Cure*. MyoTape is built on over two decades of clinical experience working with children and adults worldwide.

The patented mouth tape design gently surrounds the lips rather than covering them, combining the principles of mouth taping with kinesio taping. This trains the orbicularis oris muscle around the mouth, encouraging lip closure and nasal breathing both during sleep and daily use. ## Sizing Guide

- **Large**: For most men and approximately 50% of women. Mouth width greater than 50 mm (1.97 inches).
- **Medium**: For more petite faces and teenagers. Mouth width between 42–55 mm (1.65–2.17 inches).
- **Small/Children**: For children. Mouth width less than 47 mm (1.85 inches).

**How to measure**: Relax your face to a neutral expression. Measure the width of your mouth edge to edge in millimetres using a ruler and mirror.

**Is MyoTape safe for people with sleep apnea?**
Yes. MyoTape's patented design surrounds the lips rather than sealing them. The mouth can always be opened — including for mouth puffing. It is commonly used alongside CPAP to reduce air leaks. Not a substitute for CPAP in diagnosed moderate-to-severe sleep apnea.

**What makes MyoTape different from regular mouth tape?**
Conventional mouth tape seals the lips shut. MyoTape surrounds the mouth with gentle elastic tension — the lips are encouraged closed but can always open freely. Significantly less claustrophobic and safer, particularly for those with sleep apnea, anxiety, or nasal congestion.

**Is MyoTape safe for children?**
MyoTape Kids is designed for children aged 4 and above. It uses child-appropriate sizing and hypoallergenic adhesive, and allows emergency mouth opening at all times.
