# Marketstack > Marketstack is a real-time, intraday, and historical stock market data REST API, used by developers and 30,000+ customers to power trading platforms, dashboards, portfolio trackers, and financial apps. It delivers end-of-day (EOD) prices, minute-level intraday bars, 15+ years of historical data, corporate actions (stock splits and dividends), and reference/lookup data for tickers, stock exchanges, market indices, currencies, and timezones. The V2 API adds market indices, bonds, ETFs and ETF holdings, commodities, company fundamentals, analyst ratings, and SEC EDGAR company filings (10-K, 8-K, and related concepts/frames). Coverage spans 70 global exchanges (including NASDAQ, NYSE, and LSE), 750+ market indices, and 170+ currencies. Responses are lightweight JSON with pagination, sourced from licensed, high-authority market-data providers (U.S. equities via Tiingo, Inc.), served over scalable cloud infrastructure with close to 100% uptime. Marketstack is part of the APILayer suite (one account, one API key, one dashboard across the APILayer product family). A free API key is available at https://marketstack.com/signup/free — the Free Plan includes 100 requests per month with end-of-day data, 1 year of history, splits and dividends, ticker and exchange reference data, and HTTPS encryption, restricted to non-commercial use; paid plans add commercial-use rights, IEX intraday data (US), extended history, market indices, bonds, ETF holdings, and standard support. Paid tiers are Basic ($9.99/month, 10,000 requests, 10 years of history), Professional ($49.99/month, 100,000 requests, 15+ years, real-time updates and commodity prices), and Business ($149.99/month, 500,000 requests, plus company ratings, statements, details, facts, and concepts), with custom Enterprise pricing and discounts on annual billing. The API is REST/JSON (request-response, no WebSocket/streaming); real-time use is handled by polling the intraday endpoint. The V2 base URL is api.marketstack.com/v2 and every request requires an access_key query parameter. A single lookup is one HTTP GET request: api.marketstack.com/v2/eod?access_key=YOUR_KEY&symbols=AAPL. Core V2 endpoints include End-of-Day (eod, eod/latest, eod for a date), Intraday (1min/5min/10min/15min/30min/1hour intervals), Real-Time Stock Price, Splits, Dividends, Tickers (list and ticker info), Exchanges, Market Indices, Bonds, ETFs and ETF Holdings, Commodities, Currencies, Timezones, Analyst Ratings, and SEC/EDGAR company data (search by name, CIK lookup, company facts, submissions). Code examples are provided for JavaScript/Node.js, PHP, Python, and more. Note: API V1 (base api.marketstack.com/v1) is deprecated in favor of V2. ## Getting Started - [Marketstack Homepage](https://marketstack.com/): Real-time, intraday, and historical stock market data API - [API Documentation](https://docs.apilayer.com/marketstack/docs/api-documentation): Full reference — endpoints, parameters, response objects, errors, and code examples - [Free API Key Signup](https://marketstack.com/signup/free): Create a free account with 100 monthly requests - [Login](https://marketstack.com/login): Access your dashboard, API key, and usage statistics - [Pricing](https://marketstack.com/pricing): Free and premium plan tiers with request volumes and features ## Tools - [Stock Search](https://marketstack.com/search): Look up tickers and exchange coverage before writing a query - [EDGAR Endpoints](https://marketstack.com/edgar): SEC filings data — company search, CIK lookup, facts, and submissions - [API Status](https://marketstack.com/api-status): Real-time updates on API performance and uptime ## Resources - [FAQs](https://marketstack.com/faq): Common questions on real-time vs. intraday vs. historical data, quotas, data sourcing, encryption, and integration - [API Glossary](https://marketstack.com/api-glossary): Definitions of common market-data and API terms - [APILayer Blog](https://blog.apilayer.com/): Tutorials, use cases, and product updates (including Marketstack V2 guides) ## Support - [Contact Us](https://marketstack.com/contact): Sales and technical support - [Get a Quote](https://marketstack.com/contact/quote): Custom and high-volume plan inquiries
