# Kip Caravans

> Kip is a Dutch caravan manufacturer founded in 1934 in Hoogeveen, Netherlands. Kip designs and builds lightweight, compact pop-top caravans for travelers who value craftsmanship, mobility, and simplicity.

Product lines:

- Shelter: compact pop-top caravan; available in Basic, Plus and Outback (off-grid) editions
- Kompakt: compact model, ideal for couples looking for a little more room than the Shelter. Available in Adventure (fixed toilet, large kitchen) or Travel (extra seating / sleeping area) editions
- Vision: larger model, but still a pop-top caravan; available in Travel and Outback (off-grid) editions

Specifications per edition (weight, dimensions, sleeping places) are on the model pages linked below.

Key facts:

- Founded: 1934 by Jan Kip in Hoogeveen, Netherlands
- Production: Hoogeveen, Netherlands
- Distinctive feature: pop-top roof (hefdak) with a cotton canvas by De Waard — lightweight design, easy to tow. Caravans that are ideal for EVs due to the weight and pop-top.
- Tagline (NL): Voor elk avontuur een caravan
- Tagline (EN): A caravan for every adventure
- Sister brand: Campooz (https://campooz.com/nl), maker of folding campers (vouwwagens), has been part of Kip Caravans since 2025. Kip itself builds pop-top caravans, not folding campers.
