# Solar Impulse Foundation > The Solar Impulse Foundation, founded in 2016 by explorer Bertrand Piccard and based in Lausanne, Switzerland, identifies, labels and promotes clean and profitable solutions that protect the environment while being economically viable. It has labelled more than 1,600 "Efficient Solutions" and connects innovators, investors, adopters and policymakers to accelerate their adoption. Each application is assessed by three independent experts on feasibility, environmental benefits and economic incentives. The label is valid for three years, and label certifications are audited by Ernst & Young. - The Solutions Explorer lists all labelled solutions.
