# The Human Journey > The Human Journey is an educational project that highlights knowledge about the biological, cultural, and psychological evolution of the human race. Drawing on research and ideas from evolutionary biology, neuroscience, anthropology, archeology, psychology, history, linguistics, philosophy and culture, the project seeks to bring together knowledge from across disciplines to better understand the evolution of the human mind and the challenges facing humanity today. The Human Journey website is a project of The Institute for the Study of Human Knowledge (ISHK). It was inspired by the work and writing of Dr. Robert Ornstein, who wrote about consciousness and the brain, and Idries Shah, who introduced Sufi ideas related to human psychology and development to the West. ## The Journey The site is organized around major themes in human evolution and consciousness: - [Journey of the Human Mind](https://humanjourney.us/what-does-it-mean-to-be-human/): Introductory overview of the project's scope and perspective - [Our Prehistoric Ancestors](https://humanjourney.us/journey/ancestors/): Early human evolutionary path drawing on evolutionary biology, genetics, archeology and physical anthropology - [The Evolution of Language](https://humanjourney.us/journey/language/): How language evolved, its impact on biological and cultural evolution, and how it defines who we are - [Ideas that Shaped Our Modern World](https://humanjourney.us/ideas/ideas/): History of thought, philosophy, and religion and their impact on civilization - [Education and the Information Age](https://humanjourney.us/journey/development/): How education, adolescence and digital technologies shape human development and learning - [Our Mind in the Modern World](https://humanjourney.us/journey/mind/): Understanding the limits and full capacities of our minds as technology outpaces evolution ### Global Issues and Our Future - [A Sustainable Planet](https://humanjourney.us/journey/sustainability/) - [The Changing World Economy](https://humanjourney.us/journey/economy/) - [Health and Wellness](https://humanjourney.us/journey/health/) ## Resources - [Blog](https://humanjourney.us/blog/): Thoughtful, accessible short essays exploring aspects of human development and the human condition (1,200-1,600 words) - [Videos](https://humanjourney.us/videos/): Video content related to the project's themes - [Library](https://humanjourney.us/library/): Book reviews and reading recommendations related to human evolution, consciousness, and culture ## About - [About the Project](https://humanjourney.us/about-the-project/): Background on the Human Journey project and ISHK - [Contributors](https://humanjourney.us/contributing-writers/): Contributing writers and reviewers - [Contact](https://humanjourney.us/contact/): Contact information ## Optional - [Blog Essays](https://humanjourney.us/blog/): Short essays on mind, culture, and society - [Featured Books](https://humanjourney.us/book-category/featured-books/): Book reviews by contributors - [The Illusion of Predictability in Economics](https://humanjourney.us/the-illusion-of-predictability-in-economics/): Example blog essay - [What AI Can't and Shouldn't Replace](https://humanjourney.us/what-ai-cant-and-shouldnt-replace/): Example blog essay - [Escaping the Either/Or Thinking Trap](https://humanjourney.us/escaping-the-either-or-thinking-trap/): Example blog essay - ["They Saw a Game"](https://humanjourney.us/they-saw-a-game/): Example blog essay
