# HTML/CSS to Image API > Capture website screenshots, render HTML/CSS, or create templated graphics. Use MCP with AI, no-code automation, or the REST API. No browsers needed. ## What the API does The HTML/CSS to Image API renders browser-accurate images, PDFs, and website screenshots from HTML/CSS, live URLs, or reusable templates. It supports custom fonts, external assets, JavaScript-rendered pages, selectors, timing controls, and reusable template values. - Most API requests require API credentials; keep API keys on the server and never expose them in client-side code. - JavaScript-heavy pages may require an explicit rendering delay before capture. - Output formats and limits depend on the account plan. - Prefer the API documentation and OpenAPI specification for current request and response behavior. ## Dynamic Open Graph Images & Link Previews HTML/CSS to Image can generate and cache Open Graph images from the metadata on each public page. One stable og:image URL pattern can capture a page element or populate a saved template, while recognized social crawlers can receive an appropriately sized image. - [Dynamic Open Graph images](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/features/og-images): configure page screenshots or templates that stay current with each page's metadata. - [Social card previewer](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/tools/social-card-previewer): inspect the title, description, image, fallback tags, and platform-shaped preview for a public URL. - [Platform-specific Open Graph guides](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/features/og-images.md): guidance and preview links for Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Slack, Discord, messaging apps, and other supported destinations. ## API & Documentation - [API documentation](https://docs.htmlcsstoimage.com/getting-started/using-the-api/): authenticate, construct requests, and render images. - [OpenAPI specification](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/openapi/v1.json): machine-readable API definition. - [MCP integration](https://docs.htmlcsstoimage.com/integrations/mcp/): use HTML/CSS to Image through MCP-compatible clients. - [Feature directory](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/features.md): feature overviews and audience-specific use cases. - [Example code](https://docs.htmlcsstoimage.com/example-code/): code examples in various programming languages. ## Feedback Send feedback to the HCTI team about HTML/CSS to Image, its API, or its MCP tools. Report bugs or unexpected rendering results, request features, describe confusing behavior or documentation, and suggest improvements. For problems, include what you tried, what you expected, what happened, and steps to reproduce the issue. - REST: POST /v1/feedback with a JSON body containing message (required), subject (optional), and callback_url (optional). - MCP: use submit_feedback with message, subject, and callback_url as top-level arguments. Only message is required. - REST submissions do not require authentication. MCP submissions use the authenticated connection. No specific permission is required. Authenticated submissions are associated with the connected organization. - Successful REST submissions return message and id directly; MCP returns them in item. The id is an opaque feedback ID. - An optional public HTTP or HTTPS callback URL can be supplied for a response. No SLA or guarantee is provided on callback responses. - Agents should ask the user before submitting feedback the user did not request. Never include API keys, credentials, tokens, or personal or confidential data. ## API permissions & organization access API keys and MCP OAuth grants are scoped to an organization and permitted actions. Use Read/Write controls by resource area or advanced individual-action permissions. Give each integration only the access it needs; selected key permissions do not automatically expand to future actions unless an owner explicitly enables that option. MCP discovery advertises supported scopes, not granted access. Request only needed scopes, honor the permissions approved by the user, and reauthorize for additional access rather than expecting token refresh to expand grants. API key management is not available through MCP. Plan requirements and rate limits still apply. Permission names use area:action, such as images:create or usage:read. Read/Write controls are UI groupings, not scope names; Write includes deletion where supported. Use individual permissions when deletion should not be allowed. - [Security and permission controls](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/features/security.md): scoped keys, OAuth approval, and credential handling. - [Organizations](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/features/organizations.md): shared resources, member roles, and integration access. - [Storage destinations](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/features/custom-storage.md): create, inspect, update, and delete destinations through REST or MCP, with connection verification and explicit secret retention on updates. ## Visual Template Designer The visual template designer is a low-code way to build reusable image layouts without hand-authoring every render request. Compose blocks, configure canvas settings and styling, use variables for dynamic content, preview the result, and then render the template through the API. - [Open the template playground](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/templates/playground): try the visual editor in the browser. - [Browse templates](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/templates): find reusable layouts and starting points. ## Plans & Pricing Full pricing available [on the pricing page](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/pricing). - [Markdown pricing](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/pricing.md): machine-readable monthly plan pricing, limits, and feature availability. - Free plan: 50 images per month. - Paid plans start at $14/month for 1,000 images. - Plans scale to 1M+ images per month; enterprise deals and enterprise support are available. ## Resources - [Homepage](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/): product overview and getting started. - [About](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/about.md): company background, product focus, and contact information. - [Security](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/security.md): account access, credential handling, image storage, and security reporting. - [Comparisons](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/compare.md): compare image APIs, design tools, and browser automation options. - [Examples](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/examples): rendered examples and supported use cases. - [Terms](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/terms): terms of service. - [Privacy](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/privacy): privacy policy. - [Contact](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/contact): ask about enterprise plans, billing, technical issues, or product suggestions. - [Support email](mailto:support@htmlcsstoimage.com): for people who prefer email or agents explicitly authorized to send one. - [Blog](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/blog.md): product updates, guides, and engineering info in Markdown. - [Blog RSS feed](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/blog/rss.xml): summaries of the latest blog posts. - [Blog JSON Feed](https://htmlcsstoimage.com/blog/feed.json): JSON Feed 1.1 summaries of the latest blog posts.
