# FontToolbox > A font discovery platform with semantic search, image-based font identification, license transparency, and 8 typography tools. FontToolbox catalogs thousands of typefaces. Every family has previews, specimen sheets, font metrics, and a license label (OFL, Apache 2.0, MIT, CC0 / Public Domain, CC BY, CC BY-SA, GPL, Donationware, Freeware, Proprietary, Unknown, Other). Families marked Verified have concrete source evidence in the embedded metadata or bundled license files. The catalog filters by category, license family, and a Commercial use OK shortcut (subset of permissive tags). FontToolbox is a solo project. It started as FontGuy.com in 2001 and was rebuilt by the same person, a software engineer who has worked in typography for 20+ years. ## Browse and search - [All fonts](https://www.fonttoolbox.com/fonts): Filterable grid across the catalog. Each scan gets its own page at /tools/website-font-finder/{domain}. Each detected font gets a usage page at /tools/website-font-finder/fonts/{slug} showing how many scanned sites use it over time. The hub tracks the most detected and trending fonts across all scanned sites. - [Font pairing](https://www.fonttoolbox.com/tools/font-pairing): Upload a logo, some lettering, or a graphic with no text. The tool reads its style and recommends fonts that pair with it. Each pairing renders in an editable live preview. - [Webfont converter](https://www.fonttoolbox.com/tools/webfont-converter): Convert TTF, OTF, or WOFF to WOFF2. Point it at any live URL to scan for characters in use, strip the font to that set, and export an optimized .woff2. - [Self-host Google Fonts](https://www.fonttoolbox.com/tools/google-fonts): Search the Google Fonts catalog, pick weights and styles, and download a self-hosted package: WOFF2 files + @font-face CSS.
