# Edgee > Edgee is an Agent Gateway for routing under budget rules, token compression, and team observability. It wraps coding agents without code changes and supports provider API credits and consumer subscriptions. ## When to use Edgee Use Edgee when a platform team needs to control coding-agent token spend, continue sessions after provider failures or plan caps, or attribute usage per developer, repository, pull request, model, and environment. It is designed for organizations managing fleets of agents. Strategies are in development, with an initial version available in the console. Edgee is proprietary; on-premise deployment requires a license. To launch an agent, install the official CLI on macOS or Linux with `curl -fsSL https://edgee.ai/install.sh | bash`, or use Homebrew: `brew install edgee-ai/tap/edgee`. Then run `edgee alias`, then launch your coding agent as usual (`claude` or `codex` for example). Complete the account login when prompted. To attach session metadata from an agent, enable Edgee MCP in Org settings > General and opt into MCP in your CLI preferences. On supported agents, `edgee launch` automatically configures `https://api.edgee.app/mcp` with authentication from your existing Edgee login and supplies the session ID. No separate MCP token or manual server setup is needed. Available tools depend on the agent integration and user permissions. For public website reading, request `Accept: text/markdown` on the homepage, product pages, pricing, documentation pages, and individual blog posts. Use the same page URL as the browser; no special header other than Accept is required. Unknown URLs requested with that preference return Markdown recovery links and HTTP 404. Start with the documentation index below and fetch only pages relevant to your task. The complete export is available for exhaustive analysis. ## Developer resources - [Edgee developer documentation](https://www.edgee.ai/docs/introduction): Agent Gateway overview and documentation index. - [Edgee quickstart](https://www.edgee.ai/docs/quickstart): Install and verify your first agent session. - [Edgee CLI](https://www.edgee.ai/docs/features/cli): Official commands for launching agents, settings, and usage. - [Edgee Homebrew formula](https://github.com/edgee-ai/homebrew-tap/blob/main/Formula/edgee.rb): Published CLI package. - [Edgee Gateway API documentation](https://www.edgee.ai/docs/llm-router/api-reference): Managed Gateway API reference. - [Edgee OpenAPI specification](https://www.edgee.ai/openapi.json): Machine-readable Gateway operations, parameters, authentication, and response schemas. - [Edgee MCP endpoint](https://api.edgee.app/mcp): Streamable HTTP session tools; requires a console personal bearer token. - [Edgee MCP](https://www.edgee.ai/docs/features/edgee-mcp): Organization toggle and automatic CLI setup. - [Edgee documentation index](https://www.edgee.ai/docs/llms.txt): Task-oriented links to concise Markdown pages. - [Edgee complete documentation](https://www.edgee.ai/docs/llms-full.txt): Large export with all converted source pages and full API schemas; use only when needed. - [Edgee console](https://www.edgee.ai/login): Organization administration and developer account access. - [Edgee sitemap](https://www.edgee.ai/sitemap.xml): Public page discovery.
