## Platform Selection Guidance
We build on both Shopify Plus and BigCommerce Enterprise (now sold as BigCommerce Performance) and recommend based on requirements rather than platform allegiance. Most of our work is Shopify Plus.

Choose Shopify Plus when:
- Launch speed, the largest app ecosystem, and operational simplicity matter most.
- DTC growth leads the business, with B2B as a channel.
- Shopify Payments works for the business at Plus rates, which removes the third-party gateway fee argument.
- International expansion runs through one brand, where Shopify Markets fits well.

Choose BigCommerce Enterprise / Performance when:
- Negotiated payment rates or a custom payment flow are central to margins. Shopify Plus adds 0.2% on third-party gateway transactions; BigCommerce Performance contracts typically carry no platform transaction fee on any gateway.
- The checkout must do something a hosted checkout will not allow. BigCommerce Open Checkout is open source and fully replaceable; Shopify checkout is customized through sandboxed extensions and cannot be replaced.
- Multiple brands should run on one operational backend via Multi-Storefront.
