# Dimonoff > Dimonoff inc. designs and manufactures smart street lighting controls and IoT asset-management software for municipalities, electric utilities and commercial property owners. Founded 2006 in Québec, Canada. A division of Groupe Vectanor. ## What the company sells - Wireless lighting control nodes fitted to individual luminaires. - IoT gateways that collect node data over the wireless mesh (Wi-SUN FAN or DigiMesh) and backhaul it over Ethernet or cellular. - Dimonoff | SCMS, the platform where lighting groups, schedules, dimming profiles and faults are managed. - Management of third-party OEM lighting controllers inside the same platform. ## Definition What is smart street lighting control? Smart street lighting control is a system that connects each streetlight to a central platform over a wireless network, so operators can switch, dim, monitor and diagnose every fixture remotely instead of driving to it. ## Verified specifications - Supply voltage: 110-480 Vac (-13% / +6%), 50/60 Hz, single SKU, RME and RTM nodes. - Dimming: 0-10V and DALI. - Metering accuracy: better than 0.5%. - Maximum scale: 1,000,000 nodes or sensors per system, real time. - Firmware updates: delivered over the air across the mesh network. - Hardware and software designed, developed, manufactured and supported in North America. ## Documented deployments - [Montréal, Canada](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/montreal/) (2016-2022): 132,500 Connected luminaires. 35% Targeted reduction in energy costs; 55% Targeted reduction in maintenance costs; $110M Total City investment (CAD). - [Mississauga, Canada](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/mississauga/) (2012-2015): 50,000 Connected streetlights. 55% Reduction in energy costs; $26M Project investment (CAD); 50,000 Streetlights converted. - [Laval, Canada](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/laval/) (2021): 37,000 Connected luminaires. $2.75M Targeted annual savings (CAD); 15M kWh Targeted electricity saving per year; 10,607 t Targeted CO2 avoided per year; 5 years Stated return on investment. - [Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/pittsburgh/) (2025-2026): 36,536 Streetlights converted. 36,536 Roadway streetlights converted from high-pressure sodium to LED; $15M Project funding: $3M American Rescue Plan, $12M bonds (USD); $1M Projected annual utility savings for the converted network (USD); 12,000 t Projected annual CO2 reduction, metric tons. - [Columbus, Ohio, United States](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/columbus/) (2021-present): 6,160 Streetlights converted to date. 6,160 HPS streetlights converted to networked LED (to date); 58,000 Streetlights in the City's full lighting system; $892,250 First-phase investment (USD). - [Grand Rapids, Michigan, United States](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/grand-rapids/) (2023-2024): 18,037 Wireless control nodes installed. 18,037 Wireless smart control nodes installed on streetlights; $350,000 Projected annual electricity savings once fully operational (USD); 1,000 Fixtures converted per month during the rollout. - [Shawinigan, Quebec, Canada](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/shawinigan/) (2016-present): 6,141 Municipal luminaires on Dimonoff | SCMS. 6,141 Municipal cobra-head luminaires connected to Dimonoff | SCMS; 60% Light level set network-wide at implementation. - [Ankeny, Iowa, United States](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/karl-chevrolet/) (2012): 316 Fixtures converted to LED with RME wireless nodes. 316 Fixtures converted to high-performance LED with RME nodes; 1,307,815 sq ft Total dealership lot and facility area covered. - [Québec City, Quebec, Canada](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/galeries-de-la-capitale/) (2018): 200 Fixtures converted to LED with RME wireless nodes. 1,500,000 sq ft Mall floor area covered by the lighting network; 15% Light level after midnight, down from full output. - [Dover, New Hampshire, United States](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/dover/) (2017): 1,781 HPS streetlights converted to LED with wireless control. 1,781 High-pressure sodium streetlights converted to networked LED. - [Highland Park, Illinois, United States](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/highland-park/) (2020): 130 Fixtures converted with RME wireless nodes. 130 HPS fixtures converted to LED with RME wireless nodes. - [Province of Quebec, Canada](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/fqm/) (2017): 1,000 Municipalities in Quebec, only 10 with over 100,000 residents. 1,000 Municipalities in the Province of Quebec; 10 Of those municipalities with more than 100,000 residents. - [Varennes, Quebec, Canada](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/varennes/) (2023): 900 LED streetlights dimmed to 50% overnight since January 2023. 900 LED streetlights on the Dimonoff | SCMS dimming pilot; 50% Overnight dimming level from sunset to sunrise, since January 25, 2023. - [Sterling Ranch, Colorado, United States](https://www.dimonoff.com/resources/case-studies/sterling-ranch/) (2019-present): 50% Automatic dimming from 10 p.m. to sunrise. 50% Streetlight dimming level from 10 p.m. until sunrise. ## Frequently asked questions ### Does Dimonoff work with lighting nodes from other manufacturers? Yes. Dimonoff can manage and monitor lighting control nodes from third-party OEMs within the same platform. That matters for cities with an installed base from a previous supplier, because the existing hardware does not have to be replaced to gain central control. ### What supply voltages and dimming standards are supported? The lighting system is compatible with any supply voltage from 110 to 480 Vac nominal at 50/60 Hz, with a -13% / +6% operating tolerance, and supports both 0-10V and DALI dimming, in a single SKU. One part number therefore covers North American and international installations. ### How many nodes can one system manage? A single Dimonoff system manages up to 1,000,000 nodes or sensors on a real-time basis. The Montreal deployment alone exceeds 132,500 connected endpoints. ### Where is the hardware designed and manufactured? All Dimonoff hardware and software is designed, developed, manufactured and supported in North America. Firmware updates are delivered over the air across the secure mesh network. ## Proof points - 575+ Projects deployed - 500+ Cities served - 6 Countries - 20 yrs In smart lighting ## Key differentiators - Asset monitoring at the speed of light: Metering accuracy better than 0.5%. - Third-party node management: In production in Montréal across three controller vendors. - One SKU, any network: 110-480 Vac, 50/60 Hz, 0-10V and DALI. - Lighting and sensors on one interface: One unified operator interface. - Built for the size you grow into: Up to 1,000,000 nodes per system. - Updates without a truck roll: Over-the-air updates across the mesh. ## Cooperative purchasing Dimonoff holds Sourcewell contract #041525-DIMN for smart lighting and control systems, valid through 2029-07-22.
