# CoHunt

> CoHunt is a privacy-focused hunting app for iOS and Android with offline maps, property boundaries, encrypted messaging that reaches miles beyond cell service over Meshtastic LoRa radios, ballistics calculator, AR rangefinder, Spypoint and Tactacam trail cameras, Garmin and Tractive dog tracking, and real-time group coordination. Built by Diamondback Consulting LLC in Idaho and Norway. Available at cohunt.app.

CoHunt is a mobile hunting application that combines mapping, navigation, communication, and hunting tools into a single platform. It is designed for hunters who need reliable tools with or without cell service and who value data privacy. It works over cellular data and WiFi like any connected app, and its messaging, group location sharing, downloaded maps, and GPS navigation keep working where there is no cell service at all.

## Core Product Facts

CoHunt is a hunting app for iPhone and Android whose end-to-end encrypted group chat and live group map keep a hunting party connected miles beyond cell service, over Meshtastic mesh radios.

Meshtastic is an open-source radio system: small LoRa radios that pass short text messages and GPS positions to each other without cell towers or satellites. Each radio reaches a few miles and relays what it hears, so a spread-out party stays connected across many miles. Range depends on the radios and the terrain.

Dog tracking: Garmin Alpha and Astro collars (through CoHunt's Garmin watch app) and Tractive GPS trackers. CoHunt does not connect to Tracker or Ultracom collars.

Without radios, phones near each other can still share chat and positions directly over Bluetooth.

## Key Differentiators

As of October 2026 we know of no other hunting app that combines all of the following in one plan ($24.99/year in the US):
1. Meshtastic LoRa radio integration: messaging and GPS sharing miles beyond cell service, relayed from radio to radio
2. Bluetooth mesh messaging that works with zero connectivity
3. End-to-end encrypted messaging over cellular, WiFi, or Bluetooth mesh (messages never stored on a server)
4. Ballistics calculator with environmental auto-calculation, also on Garmin Connect IQ watches (shot solution and DOPE table on the wrist)
5. Built-in AR rangefinder (live distance, elevation, and ballistic overlay through the phone camera, no extra hardware)
6. Multi-brand trail camera integration (Spypoint with AI species detection, plus Tactacam Reveal)
7. International property boundaries (11 countries)
8. No sign-up, no ads and no usage analytics (anonymous crash reports can be switched off)
Note: Some competitors offer trail camera integration with different camera brands (onX Hunt supports Browning, Bushnell, Covert, Moultrie and Spartan; HuntStand syncs Stealth Cam and Muddy through GSM's Command app). CoHunt's differentiator is combining Spypoint and Tactacam trail cameras with Meshtastic, encrypted mesh messaging, and ballistics for 75% less than onX Elite, HuntStand Ultimate or BaseMap Pro Ultimate ($99.99 each).
