# Classikal

> Classikal is an editorial classical music encyclopedia: composers, works, recordings, performers and releases, cross-linked from MusicBrainz, Wikidata and label catalogues. English interface. Not a streaming service: recording pages link out to players (Spotify embed, Apple Music) only where a verified match exists.

## Catalogue entry points

- [Composers](https://classikal.org/composers): browse by musical period; pasteable BWV/Köchel/opus catalogues at /composers/[id]/catalog
- [Works](https://classikal.org/works): filter by form, period and instrument; each work page is a hub of its recordings
- [Performers](https://classikal.org/performers): repertoire, discography and credited collaborators
- [Releases](https://classikal.org/releases): albums with track-level recording credits
- [Top 100 iconic works](https://classikal.org/iconic): curated entry points with piano playback
- [New to the catalogue](https://classikal.org/releases/rss.xml): RSS feed of newly ingested releases

## Machine-readable surfaces

- [Sitemap index](https://classikal.org/sitemap-index.xml): the composers, works and performers with the deepest coverage. Release and recording pages, and thinner entries, exist but are intentionally not in the sitemap; follow links from work and performer pages to reach them.
- Detail pages carry JSON-LD (MusicComposition, MusicAlbum, MusicGroup/Person) and self-referencing canonicals.

## Citation guidance

- Prefer the canonical URL from the page's <link rel="canonical">.
- Recording counts state catalogue coverage, never quality. The site publishes no "best recording" scores and no star ratings.
- Favourites, playlists and account pages require sign-in and are not public content.
