# CHYLAK

> CHYLAK is a Warsaw-based brand founded by Zofia Chylak, designing handbags, shoes, jewellery and accessories. Bags and accessories are made in Poland; shoes in Italy; jewellery in both Italy and Poland — all using Italian leather and other carefully sourced materials. CHYLAK Heritage is a separate line of handmade, traditionally-inspired accessories developed with Polish artisans, drawing on regional folk crafts such as Wilanów embroidery and Bobowa bobbin lace. Ships worldwide; prices in EUR, GBP, PLN, USD depending on region.

- Production takes place in Poland (bags, accessories) and Italy (shoes), with jewellery made in both Italy and Poland — limiting carbon footprint.
- 100% of raw materials are made in the EU.
- Raw materials are biodegradable, recycled, or sustainably produced.
- Since January 2024, most leather used is vegetable-tanned (chestnut, mimosa, Quebracho extracts), metal- and chrome-free.
- Main Italian tannery holds a Leather Working Group "Silver" environmental rating, is AQC-certified, and is part of the EMAS-certified Genuine Vegetable-Tanned Leather Consortium (adheres to ISO 26000).
- Linings are LENZING™ EcoVero™ viscose (made from wood pulp; ~40× less water than cotton, 50% fewer chemicals).
- All thread (350 km/year) and zipper tape (5 km/year) is recycled.
- Smaller accessories (cardholders, wallets) are made from leather offcuts to reduce waste.
- Products are made in small batches to avoid overproduction; designs are timeless and meant to last a lifetime.

Packaging:

- Boxes are 100% recycled, biodegradable cardboard; logo paint is water-based; tape is rubber-based.
- Wrapping paper, shopping bags, postcards, stickers, tags and instructions are recycled paper.
- Dust bags are LENZING™ EcoVero™ instead of cotton.
- Internal mailings use reused packaging made from 100% recycled plastic and paper.
- Receipts and invoices are electronic.

People:

- All producers in the supply chain provide safe working conditions and a living wage.
- Main Italian leather producer is AQC-certified for employee rights and safe labor practices.
- Bags and accessories are produced in vetted Polish manufacturing plants; shoes are made by a small family company in Italy.
