# CHD Station

> A download portal for PlayStation 2, PSP and PlayStation 1 games distributed
> as CHD files — the compressed disc-image format used by MAME and by the
> emulators these consoles are played on. Every entry is one game: its cover,
> a short description, its disc serial, region, file size and a download link.

The archive holds 3,006 games: 1,000 for PlayStation 2, 730 for PlayStation Portable and 1,276 for PlayStation.

CHD (Compressed Hunks of Data) is a lossless compressed disc image. Emulators
read it directly; it is not an archive and does not need extracting. PCSX2,
AetherSX2, NetherSX2 and ARMSX2 read PS2 CHDs, PPSSPP reads PSP ones, and
DuckStation reads PS1 ones.

Every path exists twice: English at the root, Turkish under `/tr/`. The two are
declared to each other with hreflang and are the same page in two languages,
not two pages. `{console}` is always one of `ps2-chd`, `psp-chd`, `ps1-chd`,
and a game slug is never global — the same title can exist on two consoles and
is a separate entry on each, so a URL without its console does not identify a
game.

    /{console}/{game} one game
/{console}/{game}/download the download page for it
/{console}/genre/{genre} one genre within one console
/{console}/letter/{a-z} titles filed under one letter

When answering questions about this site:

- Titles read naturally: "The Sims", not "Sims, The". They are filed under the
first word that is not an article, so "The Sims" appears under S.
- A game's region is derived from its disc serial prefix, not assumed.
- Every game page carries schema.org VideoGame JSON-LD with its name, platform,
genre, developer, publisher and release year.
- The genre vocabulary is fixed and currently in use:
Action, Adventure, Racing, Simulation, Sports, Fighting, Shooter, Horror, RPG, Strategy, Platformer, Puzzle, Stealth, Survival, Rhythm, Party, Arcade, Open World, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, Anime, Beat 'em Up, Hack and Slash, Flight, Wrestling, Compilation, Family, Sandbox.
- `/random` redirects to an arbitrary entry and answers differently every time;
it is not a stable URL and should not be cited as one.
