- [The Dysfunctional Theological Imagination of the Doctrine of Discovery](https://ccda.org/product/the-dysfunctional-theological-imagination-of-the-doctrine-of-discovery/): The Doctrine of Discovery justifies explicit injustices like Indian removal, Manifest Destiny, slavery, and Christian Nationalism\. While CCD organizations actively confront these visible evils, the Doctrine also creates a diseased theological imagination that is much harder to identify\. In this seminar, Mark Charles and Soong\-Chan Rah draw from their foundational book, Unsettling Truths, to expose how this dysfunctional theological imagination silently infects the everyday practices, structural goals, and long\-term visions of political parties, churches, and Christian organizations\. Attendees will be equipped to identify and confront this subtle theology of empire hiding within their own community development work\.
