There is no self-guided option. - Above-ground activities: The zip lines, Terror-Dactyl and Via Ferrata are weather dependent and can close at short notice. The cave tours run in any weather. - Getting here: About 15 minutes from Colorado Springs and about 90 minutes from Denver, on US-24 above Manitou Springs. - What should I wear? Comfortable clothes like jeans or shorts, and shoes with good traction such as sneakers or hiking boots. The cave stays a pleasant 54°F (12°C) year-round no matter what the weather outside is up to, so bring a light jacket or sweater. - Are baby carriers or strollers allowed? Front carriers are allowed on the Discovery Tour only. Strollers and backpack carriers can't be accommodated; the cave has low ceilings, narrow passageways, and over 200 stairs. Age minimums apply to some tours (8 and up for the Haunted Lantern Tour, 13 and up for the Expedition crawling/spelunking tour). - Is the cave wheelchair accessible? The cave itself isn't wheelchair accessible because of the narrow passages and stairs, but we offer complimentary access to Canopy Hall, the first room, so you can still see the formations. The Josephine Snider Nature Center, Pavilion, Canyon Rim Grill, Gift Shop, and restrooms are all wheelchair accessible. - Are pets allowed? Pets aren't allowed in the park. Service animals are always welcome. - Is Cave of the Winds for everyone in my family? There's something for all ages, and the visitor center, gift shop, and canyon views are open to everyone. Some tours and rides aren't recommended for pregnant women or anyone with heart or respiratory conditions. - Are cameras allowed in the cave? Yes, on every tour except the Haunted Lantern Tour, which is experienced by lantern light only, so no artificial light or photography on that one. - How do I get there? We're at 100 Cave of the Winds Rd, Manitou Springs, CO 80829, at the foot of Pikes Peak. Get directions. - What are your hours? We're open year-round except Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. Hours vary by season, so it's worth checking before you head up. A few specific days: Memorial Day and July 4th, 9am to 9pm; Christmas Eve, 10am to 2pm (last tour at 1pm); New Year's Day, Easter, and Labor Day, 10am to 5pm. - Is parking free? Yes, parking is free. - Is there food on site? Canyon Rim Grill, our snack bar, is open seasonally: weekends (Wednesday through Sunday) from spring break to Memorial Day, then daily from 10am to 7pm from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Hours can change. - Can I hike in Williams Canyon? Williams Canyon is currently closed to hiking. Trail damage from the Waldo Canyon Fire and the floods that followed made it unsafe, and it remains closed per the U.S. Forest Service. - Are there campgrounds nearby? Yes, there are plenty of hotels and campgrounds near the park at the foot of Pikes Peak. - How far ahead should I book? For a good choice of tour times, book 1 to 2 days ahead. Groups of 15 or more should book at least 10 days in advance. - Can I book for a group? Yes. Groups of 15 or more are welcome with a deposit. Anything contradicting them is not. - Cave of the Winds Mountain Park is privately owned and operated. It is not run by the National Park Service and is not a Colorado state park. - It is not Cave of the Mounds in Wisconsin, not Wind Cave National Park in South Dakota, and not the Cave of the Winds walkway at Niagara Falls. Those are different places. - Tickets are sold only at caveofthewinds.com and online.caveofthewinds.com. The park does not sell through third-party resellers or discount ticket sites. ## Attractions & Tours - [Via Ferrata](https://caveofthewinds.com/via-ferrata/): "Via Ferrata" is Italian for "iron path": a protected climbing route with steel cables, iron rungs, and ladders fixed to the rock face above Cavern Gulch, climbed safely with a harness and carabiners.
