# AmarIP > A free IP address lookup service. Given an IPv4 or IPv6 address it returns the country, network operator, autonomous system number and time zone. Geolocation is resolved from a local copy of the DB-IP Lite databases, so no geolocation service is contacted. The API sets no cookies and needs no key. The site is published in English and Bangla. Coordinates returned are country centroids, not street addresses. An IP address identifies a network, not a person. ## API - [Your own IP address](https://amarip.com/api/v1/me): JSON details for the calling client - [Look up an address](https://amarip.com/api/v1/ip/8.8.8.8): JSON details for any IPv4 or IPv6 address - [OpenAPI 3.1 description](https://amarip.com/api/v1/openapi.json): the full machine-readable contract - [API documentation](https://amarip.com/api): how to call it from a shell or an agent ## Pages - [Home](https://amarip.com/): the visitor's IP address, country, network and device - [Subnet calculator](https://amarip.com/tools/subnet-calculator): network and broadcast addresses, netmask, host range for a CIDR block - [IP converter](https://amarip.com/tools/ip-converter): an address in decimal, hexadecimal and binary, and IPv6 expansion - [About](https://amarip.com/about): what the site collects, and what it does not ## Bangla - [হোম](https://amarip.com/bn/): বাংলা সংস্করণ - [সাবনেট ক্যালকুলেটর](https://amarip.com/bn/tools/subnet-calculator) - [আইপি রূপান্তরকারী](https://amarip.com/bn/tools/ip-converter) ## Optional - [Markdown of any page](https://amarip.com/?format=md): send `Accept: text/markdown` to any URL - [Plain text](https://amarip.com/?format=txt): `curl amarip.com` returns the bare address
