# Akash Network > Akash is an open marketplace for cloud compute. Tenants rent CPU, GPU, memory, storage, and networking from independent providers to run containerized applications. The Akash blockchain coordinates bids, leases, and payments; providers run the workloads. AkashML offers managed model inference on Akash infrastructure. Use this index to choose a product and find authoritative documentation. Read the extended reference for deployment workflows, command examples, funding, SDL, troubleshooting, and operating limits. Documentation describes supported features; live provider inventory and accepted bids determine what capacity is available at what price. Key distinctions: - Akash Console is the managed deployment web app. Console Air is the self-custody, self-hostable deployment web app. Provider Console operates supply-side infrastructure. - `akt` is the unified CLI. `AKT` is the network token; `ACT` is the USD-pegged compute credit. The canonical deployment pricing denomination is `uact`; transaction gas is paid in `uakt`. One ACT or AKT contains 1,000,000 of its respective micro-unit. - The current Console API funds deployments automatically from account credits. Check akt on GitHub for the most up-to-date code and published releases; Homebrew installs the latest release available in the official tap. Confirm funding flags with the installed CLI help before using older examples. - An on-chain lease, provider service readiness, and application health are separate checks. Persistent storage is provider-local and needs backups before lease closure or migration. - AkashML inference keys, Console deployment API keys, wallet signing keys, and provider authentication tokens serve different purposes. Use the credential and endpoint for the selected product. ## Start here - [Agent setup playbook](https://akash.network/get-started.md): Onboarding instructions for coding agents: connect an Akash Console API key, add the Akash skill or plugin, and verify API access without spending. - [Common questions](https://akash.network/faq.md): Answers about Akash products, GPU availability, payments, and deployment. - [Extended Akash reference](https://akash.network/llms-full.txt): Detailed plain-text companion covering supported workloads, deployment paths, akt, APIs, SDL, funding, operations, and source/version notes. - [Documentation](https://akash.network/docs/): Official documentation for tenants, application developers, providers, and node operators. - [What is Akash?](https://akash.network/docs/getting-started/what-is-akash/): Marketplace, infrastructure, participants, and typical uses. - [Quick start](https://akash.network/docs/getting-started/quick-start/): First deployment through the managed Console. - [Core concepts](https://akash.network/docs/getting-started/core-concepts/): SDL, providers, bids, deployments, leases, and escrow. - [Choose Console or Console Air](https://akash.network/docs/getting-started/choosing-your-console/): Select managed billing or self-custody before following a deployment guide. ## Deploy through a web app - [Akash Console](https://console.akash.network): Hosted deployment app with account credits, templates, an SDL builder, provider selection, logs, and lifecycle management. - [Console onboarding](https://akash.network/docs/getting-started/console-onboarding/): Sign up, configure a workload, choose a bid, and open the running service. - [How funding works](https://akash.network/docs/getting-started/how-funding-works/): Account credits, available versus escrow balances, automatic deployment funding, optional card Auto Top-Up, and runtime limits. - [Deploy with Console Air](https://akash.network/docs/developers/deployment/console-air/): Use a wallet to sign transactions, fund ACT escrow, and manage deployments yourself. - [Console Air source and setup](https://github.com/akash-network/console-air): Run or self-host the self-custody web interface. - [Console log forwarding](https://akash.network/docs/developers/deployment/akash-console/log-forwarding/): Export deployment logs for monitoring and retention. ## Deploy and operate with akt - [akt overview](https://akash.network/docs/developers/deployment/akt/): Unified CLI for local signing, Console managed wallets, chain queries, provider operations, and monitoring. - [Install and update akt](https://akash.network/docs/developers/deployment/akt/installation/): Install the latest published release from the official Homebrew tap; update with `brew update` and `brew upgrade akash-network/tap/akt`.
